The Icelandic Glacier Hat
A little bit about the Icelandic Glaciers...
The glaciers and ice caps of Iceland cover about 11% of the land area of the country, and have a considerable impact on the landscape and meteorology, as well as being a popular tourist attraction. Many glaciers lie on top of volcanoes. When volcanic activity occurs under a glacier, the resulting meltwater can lead to a sudden outburst flood, known as jökulhlaup. Such floods are often caused by geothermal activity underneath the glacier, and occasionally trigger volcanic eruptions through the sudden release of pressure. Due to climate change, Iceland's glaciers are slowly disappearing. Think about the environment and help us keep our glaciers.
